И все-таки без математики не обойтись, потому что очень часто пробки возникают там, где не должны, причем без объективных причин. Такие пробки называют фантомными. И причина такого явления — поведение на дороге одного водителя. Да, всего лишь одного, из целого потока. Причем здесь математика? Потому что фантомные пробки становятся отличным примером так называемого «эффекта бабочки», когда одно незначительное событие вызывает все более значительные события через какое-то время.
Как это работает: представьте себе поток машин, который движется достаточно равномерно и спокойно. Ничего не предвещает, но вдруг один из водителей почему-то притормозил или решил перестроиться на другую полосу. Или догнал большой и не очень быстрый грузовик, который пока что нельзя объехать. Причины разные, результат один: один автомобиль из потока снижает скорость. Соответственно, снижают скорость и те, кто едет за ним. Начинается цепная реакция, и такое «цепное» торможение может растянуться даже на 80 км, при определенных условиях. А виновник пробки уже давно уехал, даже не задумываясь о том, что стал причиной дорожного «эффекта бабочки».
Избежать «фантомных» пробок нельзя. Но можно не становиться их причинами — для этого достаточно ехать по дороге с постоянной скоростью, рекомендуемой для конкретного участка трассы, без резких ускорений и торможений. Кстати, это поможет сэкономить на топливе.
