Небоскребы ассоциируются у современного жителя мегаполиса с высотным зданием из бетона, стали и стекла. Но в Австралии хотят изменить концепцию небоскреба на более экологичную. Деревянный (но на 42%, остальное железобетон) небоскреб под названием С6 планируют возвести в г. Перт на западе Австралии. На реализацию необходимо 7400 кубометров древесины. Высота проекта чуть более 191 м, а это почти в два раза выше прежнего рекордсмена по высоте среди деревянных зданий (дом Ascent в г. Милуоки США высотой почти 87 метров).
Проект небоскреба С6 (от архитектурного бюро Fraser and Partners) подразумевает наличие 50 этажей, и сад с оранжереей на крыше здания. В доме будет жилых 200 квартир с высотой потолков около 3 м и несколько зон общего пользования для жильцов.
Дерево (клееный массив) будут использоваться для балок, колон и внутренней отделки (силовой каркас здания стальной), планируется использовать примерно крупных 580 сосен, выращенных в Австралии. Часть древесины будет импортной (ввозится в Австралию на судах перевозчиках руды). Планируется, что у проекта С6 будет отрицательный углеродный след (сохранит углерода больше, чем будет затрачено на его возведение).
