Недавно Япония стала пятой
страной, которая успешно завершила мягкую посадку на поверхность Луны,
присоединившись к нескольким избранным странам — США, России, Китаю и Индии — в
совершении этого подвига. Но высадки на Луну, вероятно, станут более
распространенными в ближайшие несколько лет. По данным Европейского космического
агентства, в глобальном масштабе ожидается более ста частных и
правительственных лунных миссий до 2030 года.
Почему же Луна так важна для
человечества?
Ответ на этот вопрос дали в
Центре воздушного и космического права при университете Миссисипи.
Исполнительный директор центра, Мишель Хэнлот, уверена, что людям Луна нужна
для получения знаний о космосе, жизни в нем и освоения его ресурсов.
Некоторые богатства, к
которым стремятся эти страны и компании, включают редкоземельные металлы и
изотоп гелий-3. Последний редок на Земле, но в изобилии встречается на Луне и
теоретически может быть использован в термоядерных реакторах.
«Мы еще не совсем
разобрались, как это сделать. На этот счет существует множество теорий. Но, как
только мы это выясним, гелий-3 на Луне может серьезно обеспечивать энергией
Землю, всю Землю на столетия» — сказала Хэнлон.
И затем, есть еще один
жизненно важный природный ресурс, за которым охотятся страны: вода. Помимо
того, что вода имеет решающее значение для выживания человека, ее можно
использовать для производства ракетного топлива, а это означает, что однажды
Луна может стать заправочной станцией для ракет и плацдармом для более глубоких
исследований космоса.
«Кто бы ни установил
значительное присутствие на Луне, он делает заявление о своей политической
системе, о своей экономической системе, о том, кто впереди в геополитическом
соревновании» — сказал Дин Ченг, старший советник китайской программы Института
мира США. «Но второй, более новой частью этого является вера в то, что на Луне
есть значительные ресурсы, которые полезны для Земли или пригодятся для будущих
космических полетов».
