Индийские власти анонсировали революционную для страны технологию, которая позволит ускорить освоение державой космического пространства. Местное аэрокосмическое ведомство Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) провело огневое испытание ракетного двигателя на жидком топливе, напечатанного с помощью 3D-принтера.
Модель, функционирующая на смеси тетроксида азота и монометилгидразина, проработала 665 секунд — это важное достижение для национальной аэрокосмической промышленности Индии. В норме аналогичный двигатель, собранный по традиционным технологиям, применяется в ракете PSLV.
В ISRO заявляют, что методика лазерного плавления в порошковом слое дала возможность уменьшить число элементов двигателя с четырнадцати до… одного. Это позволило избавиться от 19 сварных соединений и обеспечило большую экономию сырья. Новый технологический процесс использует всего 13,7 кг металлического порошка, тогда как в производстве двигателя по традиционной технологии применялось 565 кг поковок и металлических листов, лишь небольшая доля сырья шла непосредственно в дело. Кроме того, новый процесс сокращает время производства на 60 %.
Ракета высотой 44 м — одна из главных «рабочих лошадок» Индии наряду с моделью LVM-3. Она способна выводить на солнечно-синхронные полярные орбиты до 1750 кг грузов на высоту до 600 км над Землёй.
Новая технология поможет стране ускорить частоту запусков. Кроме того, у индии большие планы на пилотируемую космонавтику, включая высадку людей на Луну и создание лунной базы к 2047 году.
