Ученые из Университета Квебека в Монреале (Канада) выявили негативное воздействие оральной контрацепции на мозг женщин. Исследование, опубликованное в журнале Frontiers in Endocrinology, показало, что прием противозачаточных таблеток может быть связан с истончением коры мозга, ассоциируемой с подавлением страха.
В ходе работы были проанализированы данные почти 200 человек в возрасте от 23 до 35 лет. Среди них были группы женщин, на момент наблюдения принимавшие комбинированные оральные контрацептивы (КОК), принимавшие КОК ранее, никогда не использовавшие какие-либо формы гормональной контрацепции, а также мужчины. Авторы сосредоточились на цели определить, связано ли употребление КОК с долгосрочными морфологическими изменениями.
