Рождество во всем мире – время чудес и волшебства. В западном христианстве ему предшествует определенный подготовительный этап – адвент, во время которого создается особое настроение и выполняются практически ритуальные действия. Согласно новому опросу, трое из пяти миллениалов и 41% представителей поколения Z в США заявили, что им хочется поставить лучший праздничный декор в своем районе.
Опрос показал, что из 2 тысячи респондентов поколения Z (то есть родившиеся примерно с 1997 по 2012 гг.) и миллениалов (те, кто появился на свет в 1984-2000 гг.) треть предпочитают на Рождество классический, традиционный декор — много красного и зеленого или синего и серебристого, двадцать процентов — белые оттенки, в то время как только 14 процентов хотят использовать модный художественный декор для украшения дома.
Кроме того, опрос также исследовал тематику подарков. Для многих важно, чтобы подарки соответствовали требованию, а больше половины готовы потратить не менее 100 долларов на упаковку, чтобы она соответствовала эстетике.
В исследовании, проведенном OnePoll по заказу магазина декора Michaels, также рассматривались праздничные традиции, которым следуют молодые американцы и которыми они делятся с другими.
Как миллениалы, так и представители поколения Z, предпочитают поддерживать такие традиции, как просмотр любимых праздничных фильмов, приготовление выпечки.
Напомним, что рождественской выпечки предаются большее значение во время адвента. По традициям, существующей в западном христианском мире, во время подготовки к Рождеству необходимо испечь 12 разных видов печенья. Самое интересное, что его полагается не есть, а «складировать» до праздничных дней, а затем уж наслаждаться печеньем. При этом его часто дарят друг другу как подарок.
Обмен печеньем становится все более популярным среди поколения Z и часть опрошенных миллениалов тоже планирует поучаствовать в этом событие. Также почти 80 процентов респондентов сообщили, что это первый год после пандемии, когда они чувствуют себя комфортно во все предпраздничные недели.
Западный адвент — это радостный период ожидания Рождества, который традиционно начинается с четвёртого воскресенья до праздника. В этом году адвент начинается 3 декабря, При этом в каждое воскресенье зажигается по 1 свече на так называемом адвент-венке. Свече до конца не дают сгореть, и каждый раз в уже зажженным добавляют еще одну. Они символизируют Любовь, Надежду, Веру и Мир. Последняя свеча еще называется ангельской.
Другой очень популярной праздничной традицией является установка рождественской ёлки во время каникул. Почти половина на самом деле предпочитает искусственную елку настоящей, а 40 процентов устанавливают более одной елки в своих домах.
Американцы очень любят не только елки, но и еловые венки и гирлянды из лап хвойных деревьев, которыми увивают и перила лестницы, и колонны крыльца. Все украшения обязательно подсвечиваются, что добавляет праздничного настроения.
В целом, по результатам исследования становится понятно, что опрошенные придерживаются одних и тех же праздничных традиций большую часть своей жизни, и видят в этом поддержание традиционных культурных и семейных ценностей, хотя многие готовы пойти на создание новых традиций, например, те, что приходят через социальные сети.
Целью опроса также было выяснить, какую часть от товаров составляют самодельные подарки в праздничные дни.
Четверо из 10 считают, что подарки ручной работы наиболее приятны для дарения или получения во время праздников. Каждый четвертый представитель поколения миллениалов также предпочитает получать подарки ручной работы на праздники.
К тому же опрос показал, что более половины планируют в этом году сделать подарки и декор своими руками, чтобы сэкономить деньги. Хотя меньше половины и так часто или почти всегда украшают свои дома собственными украшениями.
Большинство опрошенных родителей заявили, что им нравится, что дети украшать дом к праздникам — делают бумажные снежинки. В этом есть еще и большой психологический эффект – так семья создает свои традиции, дети проводят больше времени со взрослыми, и у них улучшается настроение и закладываются определенный культурный код не просто в масштабах нации, а и собственной «ячейки общества».
Безусловно, жизнь меняется, становится динамичнее, и одними бумажными снежинками не обойтись. «Молодое поколение продолжает привносить в праздники что-то особенное, создавая воспоминания с помощью новых и старых традиций», — высказалась после результатов опроса ведущий эксперт по трендам и дизайну Michaels Манди Кларк. Она добавила, что «всё, от украшения вашего дома до выпечки домашних праздничных угощений и творческого подхода к упаковке подарков для близких, играет определенную роль в том, чтобы сделать праздники незабываемыми».
