Компания Varda Space,
запустившая в июне текущего года первый в истории спутник для производства
лекарственных препаратов в условиях микрогравитации на орбиту Земли, получило
отказ в возвращении на поверхность нашей планеты своей первой «космической фабрики».
План возврата капсулы
предполагал использование для этих целей полигона в штате Юта, который уже не
раз принимал возвращаемые модульные блоки NASA с пробами материалов комет и астероидов.
Точные причины отказа со
стороны Федерального управления гражданской авиации США доподлинно не известны,
но есть предположения, что это связано с особенностями характера миссий
«космических фабрик». Как известно нынешняя программа полета состояла в исследовании
в проведении экспериментов по получению лекарств, применяемых при лечении
ВИЧ-инфекции, в условиях низкой гравитации, что лучшим образом сказывается на
однородности и чистоте получаемых субстанций. Кроме того, сама идея
космического производства Varda Space является коммерческим проектом с
многократными, периодическими стартами и возвратами на Землю производственных
моделей и, возможно, этап возврата не прошел проверки соответствия критериям
безопасности, рисков и воздействия на окружающую среду, установленных
Федерального управления гражданской авиации США.
В настоящий момент план
возвращения прорабатывается специалистами сторон. При этом изначально компанией
Varda предусмотрены альтернативные варианты посадочных площадок, но пока речь о
смене площадки в штате Юта не идет. Кроме того, сам модуль находится в
исправном состоянии, а продолжительность его полета может составлять до одного
года.
