Хотя очередной этап антикитайских санкций мог бы навредить NVIDIA, которой запрещено продавать в КНР передовые чипы для ИИ-вычислений, похоже, ситуация складывается не так плохо, как могло бы случиться. Вместо Китая покупать передовые ИИ-разработки готовы в соседней Индии, в отношении которой никаких санкций пока не вводили. Тем более, что у местного бизнеса появился спрос на соответствующие решения.
Местные операторы ЦОД, включая Yotta, планируют масштабные закупки. Последняя, например, готовится внедрить к 2025 году 32 тыс. ИИ-ускорителей H100 и H200, стоимость сделки составит около $1 млрд, а 16 тыс. чипов поступят клиенту уже в июле для внедрения в ЦОД, ориентированном на ИИ-вычисления в провинции Гуджарат. В Yotta считают, что к концу десятилетия рынок решений на основе машинного обучения вырастет до $14 млрд, но для этого потребуются чипы из США.
Помимо Yotta в NVIDIA намерены сотрудничать с индийскими Reliance Industries и Tata Group, тоже желающими расширить в стране ИИ-инфраструктуру для обеспечения сервисов, связанных с искусственным интеллектом. Правда, пока неизвестно, сколько именно ускорителей намерены закупать Reliance и Tata для своих проектов. Известно, что чипы H200 будут применяться в ЦОД подразделения Reliance — Jio, а Tata работает с NVIDIA над строительством суперкомпьютера, тоже на передовых H200.
Рост влияния в Индии важен для NVIDIA, поскольку возможность продаж в Китае после октябрьского этапа американских санкций теперь вновь ограничена. Если до их введения планировалось продать в КНР ослабленных ускорителей A800 и H800 на $5 млрд в 2023-2024 гг., то теперь NVIDIA готовит три новых ускорителя, соответствующих американским требованиям к экспортируемому в Поднебесную оборудованию. Правда, по слухам, в Китае весьма прохладно отнеслись к идее дальнейшего ослабления производительности полупроводников и будут ли их покупать — ещё неизвестно.
Тем временем финансисты NVIDIA сохраняют оптимизм, поскольку рассчитывают, что рост спроса на ИИ-ускорители перекроет потенциальные убытки от сокращения китайского рынка.
