Группа ученых из технологического института Карлсруэ (Германия), изобрела микрофотонный многофункциональный метаматериал
на основе полимера (PMMM), он представляет собой тонкую пленку, которую можно
наклеить на поверхность обычного стекла. Свои особые свойства он приобретает
благодаря микроскопической структуре своей поверхности, на которой выгравирован
узор из пирамидок шириной всего 10 микрон каждая.
Эти мини-пирамиды рассеивают 73% падающего на них света, что
придает материалу матовый вид. Но, несмотря на это, он более прозрачен для света, чем обычное
стекло: коэффициент пропускания 95% по сравнению с 91% у большинства
стекол. Ученые утверждают, что это обеспечивает более комфортное освещение не
только для людей, но и для растений.
«Когда этот материал используется
в окнах, он позволяет создавать яркие и без бликов помещения для работы и проживания», — сказал Ган
Хуанг, ведущий автор исследования. «В теплицах высокий коэффициент пропускания
света может повысить урожайность, поскольку с этим материалом эффективность фотосинтеза
оценивается на 9% выше, чем в теплицах со стеклянной крышей».
Еще одно полезное свойство нового материала это его способность отражать тепло охлаждая
тем самым помещение. Это свойство называется радиационным охлаждением. Испытания показали, что этот материал поддерживает
температуру в комнате на 6 °C ниже, чем окружающий воздух.
В довершение ко всему, пленка
самоочищается. Поверхность, полная крошечных пирамидок, удерживает слой воздуха
под каплями воды, поэтому они просто скатываются, унося с собой пыль и грязь.
Технически это делает его супергидрофобным, с углом контакта 152 градуса.
«Этот материал может одновременно
оптимизировать использование солнечного света в помещении, обеспечить пассивное
охлаждение и снизить зависимость от кондиционирования воздуха», — сказал Хуанг.
«Решение масштабируемо и может быть легко интегрировано в планы экологически
чистого строительства зданий и городского развития».
