Учёные из Технологического института Карлсруэ (KIT) изобрели новый прозрачный материал, который может стать заменой стеклу. Он не только пропускает больше света и отталкивает влагу, но и способен охлаждать помещения!
Изобретение немецких учёных является микрофотонным многофункциональным метаматериалом на полимерной основе или PMMM. За этими сложными для далёкого от науки человека словами стоит обычная на вид тонкая плёнка, которую вполне легко можно наклеить на обычное стекло. Когда это сделано, то начинают проявляться те самые инновационные свойства, которые плёнке придает необычная поверхность с покрытием из пирамидок размером всего в 10 микрон каждая.
Именно благодаря этому покрытию плёнка рассеивает 73% проходящего через неё света, получая характерный матовый вид. И несмотря на эту матовость и невозможность в деталях рассмотреть что же находится позади плёнки, та в реальности пропускает больше света, что обвычное стекло — 95% против 91%! Этого вполне достаточно для уровня освещения, которое удобно и для людей, и для растений в помещении.
Благодаря этой матовости свет становится размытым, свободным от бликов, что подмечает Ган Хуан, ведущий автор исследования. Кроме этого он указывает на то, что теплицы, покрытые этой плёнкой увеличивают эффективность фотосинтеза на 9% по сравнению с обычными стеклянными крышами, что может увеличить и итоговую урожайность.
Кроме матовости и прозрачности, плёнка может быть интересна в быту своей уникальной способностью охлаждать помещение. Происходит это за счёт перераспределения плёнкой инфракрасного излучения наружу в атмосферу Земли. Исследования показали что плёнка способна сохранить температуру в помещении на 6°C ниже уличной!
Других потенциальных пользователей плёнки может привлечь её способность к отталкиванию влаги и самоочистке. Происходит это за счёт того что покрытая множеством микро-пирамидок поверхность удерживает слой воздуха под каплями попадающей на плёнку воды. И эти капли просто скатываются вниз, смывая с плёнки осевшие на ней пыль или грязь.
В перспективе этот материал может быть полезен для пассивного охлаждения, что поможет снизить расход энергии и зависимость от кондиционеров.
