«Если мы не сможем увидеть процесс в Гаагском суде в реальной жизни, давайте посмотрим его в театре», — эта фраза украинской писательницы Саши Денисовой стала отправной точкой для сатирического спектакля «Гаага», идущего сейчас в Болгарии.
Это проекция воображения девочки-подростка, сироты из Мариуполя, о судебном процессе над российским высшим руководством в Международном суде из-за войны в Украине.
Радена Валканова сыграла в спектакле Владимира Путина.
«Когда режиссер Галин Стоев сделал мне это предложение, — говорит актриса, — я не знала, что Путина будет играть женщина, и сказала: «Ба, как это?». Ведь сложно вести себя, как мужчина, какой в этом смысл? Но потом я поняла, что так всё и было задумано».
События развиваются во время войны. Пригожина уже нет, но роль лидера наёмников Вагнера не забыта.

«В ходе репетиций, когда у нас уже был готовый сценарий, случился так называемый «путч», марш на Москву или как там его называли. И на следующий день я спросил Галина: «Что нам делать? Становится жарко». Мы ввели несколько новых строк, он разговаривал с Сашей Денисовой, мы ввели несколько строк о путче».
Премьера спектакля состоялась в Польше, ему аплодировали в США и во Франции, но в Болгарии, стране, исторически близкой к России, реакция была неоднозначной.

«Пьеса была принята , как мы и ожидали, с очень поляризованными мнениями, — говорит Радена Валканова, — но, я думаю, в этом и состоит цель такого рода театральных спектаклей».
В финале пьесы приговор выносят не судьи , а девочка, потерявшая в войне всех своих родных.
