SMIC была ключевым производителем чипов Kirin 9000S и 9010
компании Huawei. Оба процессора производились по 7-нм техпроцессу. Сейчас SMIC
разрабатывает собственный 5-нм процесс, а чипы на его основе будут
использоваться в новой модели смартфона Huawei Mate 70.
SMIC не просто добилась успеха в достижении уровня 5-нм, а
уже готова к массовому производству процессоров.
Учитывая, что китайские производители микроэлектроники в
настоящий момент сталкиваются с серьезными проблемами при поставке иностранного
оборудования для производства передовых микропроцессоров, достижения SMIC
выглядят более чем значительными. Тем более, что производство новых 5-нм чипов достигнуто
на старом технологическом оборудовании для глубокой ультрафиолетовой литографии
(DUV) вместо более передовой технологии экстремального ультрафиолетового
излучения (EUV).
В DUV-литографии используется глубокое ультрафиолетовое
излучение с длиной волны около 193 нм для травления кремниевых пластинах.
В EUV-литографии длина волны уже составляет около 13,5 нм, а
единственным производителем литографического оборудования по данному техпроцессу
является ASML из Нидерландов. Чипы, произведенные с помощью EUV-литографии
более мощные и эффективные, но под давлением администрации США ASML не может поставлять
новейшее оборудование и запасные части к нему в Китай. Кроме того, цена на EUV-литографы
колеблется в районе 350 млн. долларов США.
На фоне этого SMIC удалось добиться получения 5-нм
результата при помощи DUV-литографов.
Несмотря на некоторые опасения по поводу производительности,
Huawei будет использовать процессоры, произведенные по 5-нм техпроцессу на
заводах SMIC в своей грядущей серии смартфонов Mate 70.
Кроме того, просачивается информация о намеченном выпуске ноутбука
Huawei с чипом Kirin для ПК, который по производительности составит конкуренцию
M2 от Apple.
